Collaborating with Just Moms STL, Missouri Coalition for the Environment
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — State Rep. Chantelle Nickson-Clark, D-Florissant, will co-host a town hall on the history of radioactive contamination in North St. Louis and St. Charles Counties later this month.
With the fears regarding the effects of radiation at Jana Elementary School, located in Florissant, and beyond, Nickson-Clark said her community needed the opportunity to learn more about this ongoing anxiety from experts.
“This public forum will provide members of the North County community to ask activists who have researched and studied this issue for years about the impacts of radioactive contamination,” Nickson-Clark said. “Residents of North St. Louis County and St. Charles County understandably have a lot of questions about how this problem will continue to affect our community. They deserve answers.”
Just Moms STL, a grassroots group founded to bring awareness to radioactive contamination in North St. Louis — specifically in the areas of Coldwater Creek and West Lake Landfill, and the Missouri Coalition for the Environment will answer questions pertaining to the impact of radioactive waste in the community. Nickson-Clark also said she would offer a legislative update of efforts in Jefferson City and Washington, D.C. to rectify the problem and offer reparations for those impacted.
