Ealy secures Grandview walkability funds in final FY24 budget

State Rep. Anthony Ealy (MHDC)

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — State Rep. Anthony Ealy, D-Grandview, successfully added $300,000 for walkability improvements in the city of Grandview to the final version of the FY 2024 budget agreed upon by the House and Senate.

“I am proud to secure this funding for the city of Grandview in the 36th District in my first year in the House and on the Budget Committee,” Ealy said. “This appropriation will give Grandview a needed boost as it continues to invest in making its downtown more accessible to residents, businesses and visitors.

“I want to thank my colleagues in the House and Senate on both sides of the aisle for ensuring this line item made it into the finalized budget.”

Contained within House Bill 7, which includes funding for the Department of Economic Development among a few other state agencies, Ealy’s line item is part of a broader effort in the city of Grandview to beautify and revitalize its historic downtown. These state funds will go towards expanding space on Main Street in Grandview to attract more businesses and improve walkability to the area.

Ealy said that he has spoken with Gov. Mike Parson’s office about this particular appropriation as an added effort to ensure the governor preserves it when he signs the budget bills in the coming weeks.
