JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. —State Rep. Del Taylor, D-St. Louis, will join the Task Force on Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment. The working group is charged with finding legislative solutions to address substance abuse.

“I am honored to join this group of legislators and experts as we undertake a worthwhile but challenging problem that has plagued Missouri and American communities for far too long,” Taylor said. “I look forward to getting this critical work done, so our state can better understand and combat this threat.”

The task force began meeting under a law passed in 2019. It is composed of six state Senators selected by the Senate President Pro Tempore, six state Representatives selected by the House Speaker, and four appointees from the governor from the fields of health care, law enforcement, substance abuse prevention and the judiciary.

House Speaker Dean Plocher, R-St. Louis, appointed Taylor alongside these five other members of the House last week: State Reps. LaDonna Appelbaum, D-St. Louis; John Black, R-Marshfield; Dave Griffith, R-Jefferson City; Dale Wright, R-Farmington; and Melanie Stinnett, R-Springfield.
